Highbeam is an Autobot air commander and member of the Anti-Decepticon Force (A.D.F), a sub-group of Autobot Mercenaries stationed on Earth. He is Counterflow's partner, and transforms into a Mirage 2000 Jet Fighter.

If you ask Highbeam to describe himself, he'll tell you all about how he'll never turn down a chance to duel anyone, because he knows he'll always win. He is generally unwilling to help those who are having trouble keeping up, and is quite audible when it comes to complaining about the shortcomings of everyone else. The only Autobot he truly gets along with is his flying partner, Counterflow, and even that can seem strained at times. Highbeam's short temper is not all there is to him, however, nor is he a purely ruthless fighter like Ringer or Fusilade. He does value life; he does value friendship. He knows from sad experience that the merest indecision on a warrior's part may bring defeat in battle, perhaps permanently. Worse, it may mean deactivation or damage to friends, or to non-combatant bystanders. At the same time, he knows that rashness may bring the same result. So, while his quick temper does control him at times, at others he uses it to motivate him, and in the midst of rushing madly upon an enemy he will do his level best to preserve a fragment of his wits, and to fight with lethal skill as well as fury. He is a dangerous opponent.
The main reason Venaticus keeps him around is most likely Highbeam's effectiveness on the battlefield. Ruthless and skilled in all forms of combat, there is not much he cannot handle. As a front-line warrior, Highbeam is a great asset for the A.D.F. His greatest asset, however, might just be his High-Velocity Chest Beam (which his name is based of). An extreamly deadly weapon on short and average-range. This weapon does have some drawbacks though, first of all, it can reduce his speed if he transforms in jet mode, after using it. Second of all, it consumes an awful lot of Energon. Highbeam is also equipped with some missiles on his arms.
