Jazz is a former Autobot, best friend of Optimus Prime and part-owner Maccadam's New Oil House alongside Blurr. Originally from the city of Stanix, Jazz left the city to pursue a career in music, becoming a famed musician and music expert. While in Iacon, he met the then young data clerk, Orion Pax and became good friends with the young bot. For the next few years, as the political situation on the planet degraded into chaos, he joined the Autobot military alongside Orion. Eventually, he joined the Elite Guard while Orion became leader of the Autobots and became Optimus Prime. During his time in the Elite Guard, he was put under the command of the arrogant Sentinel Prime and became disgusted with what the Autobots became as the Great War dragged on. He also became acquainted with Inferno and Alert as the Elite Guard frequently worked alongside them. After the end of the Great War, he left the Autobots and founded Maccadam's New Oil House in the ruins of Iacon alongside Blurr.
