Transformers/G.I. Joe: Special Operations Joint is an adult-animated crossover television series trademarked by Skybound Entertainment and Hasbro Entertainment, written and conceived by Joe Henderson and Robert Kirkman respectively, and produced by Box Canyon Productions (successor to Rooster Teeth Productions, LLC) for Netflix. It is loosely based on the Energon Universe timeline.
Inspired by Mobile Suit Gundam, Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, Science Ninja Team Gatchaman and A.T.O.M., it focuses on the Autobots and G.I. Joe working together to protect the Earth from the villainous Decepticons led by their general Starscream, who strive to free their leader Megatron from prison.
Story[]
Transformers/G.I. Joe: Special Operations Joint is set after the events of the Netflix adaptation of Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy, where the Autobots won a great war against the Decepticons by capturing their leader, Megatron, who eventually announced that the Energon is up for the taking on Earth, which his followers must find if they are ever going to free him someday, before leaving for Trypticon Prison in the Iaconian borough of Kaon to serve his life imprisonment sentence as a terrorist group leader.
Megatron's top general, Starscream, promised to free Megatron one day, so he rallied the rest of the Decepticons to blast off for Earth on the Nemesis. An Autobot secret police unit led by Optimus Prime boarded the Ark to stop them. Together, both ships plunged towards the Solar System, with the Autobots crash-landing in the United States on Earth and the Decepticons crash-landing on the Moon. An elite covert special operations unit operating under the control of the United States Armed Forces codenamed "G.I. Joe" found the Autobots in their stasis lock, so they rescued them and later educated them about Earth's culture, revealing that have been preparing for the Decepticons to invade Earth and take their Energon from them since Benjamin Franklin discovered energy in his kite experiment in the year 1752 (triggering the foundation of the Energy Management Center centuries later to replace fossil fuels and nuclear energy with Energon in order to power domestic houses and appliances in fair use).
Rather than focus on the Autobots' war against the Decepticons on their home planet of Cybertron, the series takes place primarily on Earth during the modern era, where the Decepticons terrorize Earth under Starscream's instructions to gather enough Energon to bring Megatron back. However, preparing with the humans for this day, the Autobots march into battle once again with their diverse high school-aged human partners selected by G.I. Joe to combat the Decepticons to protect Earth's Energon from them.
For most of the series, the Autobots and/or their human partners deal with social issues commonly faced by their human clients, ranging from stage fright, first loves, medical operations, and personal hygiene to more serious themes including vandalism, stealing, racism, rape, smoking, being scammed by con artists, sexually transmitted diseases, child abuse, kidnapping, drug use, gun violence, and death.

Protagonists[]
Autobots[]
- Optimus Prime: The tactical leader of the Autobots who transforms into a blue Peterbilt Model 589 truck with red accents. His signature weapon is the Energon Axe, a poleaxe which can also be thrown like a boomerang.
- Ratchet: Optimus Prime's second-in-command after Elita-1's death, science officer and medical officer who transforms a white Cadillac Escalade ambulance with orange Battenburg markings. His signature weapons are two Electromagnets that can extend from his forearms, which he can use to move metal-based objects, levitate downward from high heights, manipulate or tear apart metallic objects in midair, or create magnetic shields.
- Arcee: A weapons specialist and demolitions expert who transforms into a pink Ducati Panigale V2 motorcycle with white accents. Her signature weapons are Shurikens, throwing weapons that he can hurl with high accuracy, tend to be far more damaging at close range and will occasionally bounce off their target with little damage if thrown from too great a distance.
- Bumblebee: A reconnaissance expert who lost his voice box during the war back on Cybertron who transforms into a yellow Chevrolet Corvette Stingray sports car with black stripes. His signature weapons are Stingers that are formed from his hands, capable of firing blasts of concentrated electricity.
- Wheeljack: The team's engineer and muscle who transforms into a green GMC Sierra 3500 HD Denali pickup with red and white accents. His signature weapon is the Bolas, which he uses to restrain enemies.
- Cliffjumper: An Autobot scout and Arcee's boyfriend who was executed in the series premiere for trespassing in the Decepticons' territory in the countryside of New York City and stealing their Energon they are trying to collect to free Megatron, forcing Optimus Prime to replace him with human partners for him and his fellow Autobots as a compromise to Arcee's reprimand of falling out of formation. He transforms into a red Porsche 911 GT3 sports car. While the only Autobot in this series without a weapon, his signature tool, in fact, is a trowel, which he uses to dig Energon crystal samples from the ground.
G.I. Joe[]
G.I. Joe Cadet Corps[]
The following cadets for G.I. Joe hail from Curtis High School, a public school in Staten Island, one of the five boroughs of New York City, New York, that is not far from G.I. Joe's headquarters codenamed "The Pit".
- Conrad "Duke" Hauser: A Russian American leader of the G.I. Joe Cadet Corps and master of karate, whose father also goes by the codename of "Snake Eyes". He is adventurous and will push his body to its limits. The most level-headed of the five cadets, Duke takes responsibility whenever someone is in danger. He and Gung-Ho are closest friends and he also seems to have feelings for Scarlett, as she is the only one who can get through to him whenever anything goes wrong. Duke has dirty blonde hair and gray eyes. His combat uniform in the G.I. Joe Cadet Corps is blue, the same color as his Autobot partner Optimus Prime's finish. His catchphrase is: "Lock and load!".
- Ettienne "Gung-Ho" LaFitte: A Kenyan American gentle giant with superhuman strength, who studied various forms of wrestling, such as Greco-Roman wrestling, submission wrestling, and pro-wrestling. Gung-ho can rip through doors and walls with ease. Gung-ho is also tech-savvy with computers. Gung-Ho is also a lover of animals except for bees and wasps, which he is afraid of since the time he was stung when he was young. Gung-Ho has a big appetite and eats enormous portions of food. Although he gets along pretty well with everyone on the team, Duke turns out to be his closest friend. Gung-Ho is bald-headed but has a black goatee and green eyes. His combat uniform in the G.I. Joe Cadet Corps is orange, the same color as his Autobot partner Ratchet's finish. He represents the United States Marine Corps. His catchphrase is: "Young punks—get off my lawn!".
- Shana "Scarlett" O'Hara: A Brazilian American girl who practices capoeira. Her agility and athletic ability make her a very effective fighter. She can hold her own in battle and has exhibited more courage than the others. Scarlett thrives on challenge and will push her body to its limits. Scarlett's weakness is a fear of public speaking. While deep down Scarlett does not hat Ripcord, she is probably the least tolerant of his boisterous ego, which is why she carries an oversized mallet to keep his lecherous behavior on other girls in check (a la Kaori Makimura from City Hunter). Scarlett has fiery red hair (hence the codename Scarlett) and golden green eyes. Her combat uniform in the G.I. Joe Cadet Corps is pink, the same color as her Autobot partner Arcee's finish. She represents the United States Army. His catchphrase is: "Vamos!" (meaning "Let's go!" in Brazilian Portuguese).
- Wallace "Ripcord" Weems: A Brooklyn native and comic relief with a huge ego, who loves flying planes and wanted to someday join the U.S. Air Force when he grows up. His weakness is his fear of water. Ripcord's aforementioned ego often annoys the rest of the team (and almost everybody else he meets) and sometimes is counterproductive on their missions. Because of this, he often strikes out with the ladies. Despite this, Ripcord is very serious about protecting innocent lives as well as his flying skills. When not fighting Decepticons with his fellow cadets and their Autobot partners, Ripcord is a serious actor. He is also a good friend to Torpedo despite his clean freak nature contrasting to Torpedo's sloppiness. Ripcord has a brown buzzcut and green eyes. His combat uniform in the G.I. Joe Cadet Corps is yellow, the same color as his Autobot partner Bumblebee's finish. He represents the United States Air Force. His catchphrase is: "Who's your daddy?!".
- Edward "Torpedo" Leialoha: Not only a laidback Japanese American surfer, but also an expert to oceanography, making him a great asset during water-based missions. Most of the time, Torpedo is a calm and relaxed individual. He is close friends with Ripcord despite comparison between Torpedo's sloppiness and Ripcord's clean freak nature and huge ego. Torpedo has blond hair and blue eyes. His combat uniform in the G.I. Joe Cadet Corps is green, the same color as his Autobot partner Wheeljack's finish. He represents the United States Navy. His catchphrase is: "Get your head out of the sand, dude!".
Others[]
- General Lawrence J. Flagg: The head of the G.I. Joe team and mentor to the Autobots, whose predecessor, General Joseph Colton, is a descendant of Benjamin Franklin. He and his subordinates operate underneath the Chaplain's Assistant School's motor pool in Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island known as "The Pit". His prime directive, which drove him to found G.I. Joe in honor of his predecessor, is to prepare the world for the Decepticon invasion. To do this, he protects the Energon reserves to prevent the Decepticons from freeing Megatron from Trypticon Prison.
- Michelle "Firewall" LaChance: A young ally to both G.I. Joe and the Autobots, she is newly recruited as part of their three-man support group alongside General Flagg and Hi-Tech. Her main task in the support group is to relay information of which region of the world the Decepticons appeared in.
- David "Hi-Tech" Lewinski: General Flagg's right-hand man and technological genius. When assisting the Autobots and their human partners, he maintains a calm composure. He is part of the three-man support group of the Autobots and their human partners alongside General Flagg and Firewall.
